Design of a Maximum Power Point Tracker Based on a PIC Microcontroller pdf
ملخص الدراسة:
The simplest photovoltaic system (PV) consists of solar cells, charge controller and batteries. The charge controller works for matching the voltage and current of the solar cells to the battery. Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) is the easiest algorithm used for that purpose. However, it suffers from low energy conversion efficiency. Alternatively, maximum power point tracking (MPPT) is a sophisticated technique capable of harvesting the maximum energy available from the solar cells. While extracting the maximum energy it has to respect the battery charging algorithm. In this work a simple but effective charge controller with maximum power point tracker is designed and implemented. It is basically a step down DC to DC buck converter controlled by PIC16F887 microcontroller. The device is rated 250W which is tested successfully for 100 AH battery. Major performance measures such as current, voltage and power are recorded and presented.
