Abstract Study Importance: This study aims at showing the high status of Imam Sufiyan Althawri among the critics of prophetic traditions narrators, and exhibiting the extent of his interest in crediting and discrediting narrators of prophetic traditions. He lived at the time crediting and discrediting narrators and he had his own impact in this field, therefore he is deemed as one of the early founders of this science. Objectives of the study; Showing the high status of Imam Sufiyan Althawri among the critics of prophetic traditions narrators. Exhibiting his great efforts and his approach to crediting and discrediting prophetic traditions narrators. Research methodology: The study is divided into chapters and sections and topics as needed, as well as the requirements of the study. I authenticated the prophetic traditions from its original sources. I classified the opinions of Imam Sufian Althawri in crediting and discrediting men. The most important findings of the study: Imam Sufian Althawri is a moderate critic in crediting, and strict in discrediting. He expresses opinion about 90 narrators. He used different words in crediting and discrediting men. The most important recommendations of the study: I recommend scholar to observe and fear Allah. The study recommends giving more attention to forensic science, the prophetic traditions. Financial funding and moral strengthening should be contributed to develop forensic sciences.
