Study Importance: This research is important to the students of Islamic knowledge, as it clarifies a fundamental approach of the criticism of hadith narrators. This approach is the approach of Imam Muhammad bin Yahya Alzahli in Jarh, criticism, and Ta’deel, praising. Study aim: To focus on the meanings of the terminology used by Imam Muhammad bin Yahya Alzahli in the criticism of narrators, and to find out his rank among the critics in terms of hardness, moderation, and tolerance. This is expected to help the students of knowledge in judging the narrator. Study approach: The study implemented the inductive approach in the collection of the research materials, and then implemented the descriptive analytical method to discuss the aspects of Imam Alzahli’s methodology in his criticism of narrators. The most important findings of the study: Imam Mohammed bin Yahya Alzahli had an extensive knowledge in the definition and criticism of narrators. Imam Muhammad bin Yahya Alzahli is considered among the pioneer early imams who served the hadith science and defined its bases. However, he didn’t receive the acknowledgement he deserves. Moderation is the main advantage of the approach implemented by Imam Muhammad bin Yahya Alzahli. The most important recommendations of the study: To focus and ponder over the meanings of hadith imams’ terminology, especially terms that show a meaning that differs from the intended one through carefully studying the narration. To take care of studying the efforts of the Imams who paid attention to the Jarh and Ta’deel, and to study their methodologies and terminology. To search for the lost books of critics, and to allocate a special budget for that cause, especially the books of Imam Muhammad bin Yahya Alzahli.
