ملخص الدراسة:
This study aims to investigate the level of job satisfaction and the factors affecting it among Palestinian female journalists in Palestine, as well as to identify the pressures they encounter and affect their work performance. This study is considered descriptive research using the survey methodology, through which the practice techniques survey design was used and the reciprocal relationships approach, through which the correlation studies design was used. The researcher adopted the gatekeeping theory, and two major theories of job satisfaction which are Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory and Herzberg’s Two-Factor theory. The researcher selected a random stratified sample consisting of (130) journalists from the original population of Palestinian female journalists working in media institutions in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. The field study was conducted in the period from 12/15/2016 to 10/01/2017. The study concluded with a number of findings, the most important of which included: There is a high degree of job satisfaction among Palestinian female journalists in Palestine, as he average score for all domains was (71.98%). The combined major domains of satisfaction positively affected job satisfaction among Palestinian female journalists in Palestine, with the exception of the domain related to the economic factors. The study also revealed that the subjective factors were the most positively influencing factors, while the most negatively influencing factors were the economic factors. Concerning the degree of pressures encountering female journalists, they were average as the study revealed that the highest percentage of pressures are personal and family pressures, followed by the internal and societal pressures, and final came the external pressures. The study also revealed that there were no statistically significant differences between the means of female journalists’ responses concerning job satisfaction attributed to the variables of (media institution, academic qualification, years of service, marital status, institution ownership). The study came up with several recommendations, the most important of which included: the need to provide job security and stability for the Palestinian female journalists through enrolling them in the insurance and pension system in force in Palestine; the adoption of an equitable and unbiased promotion system through the adoption of certain professional standards that tallow equal opportunities; the periodical activation of the moral appreciation and motivation system for female journalists to evade any feeling of bias; and working on diversifying the incentives while linking that appreciation to the level of their performance and achievement at work.
