يتمحور البحث الحالي على واحد من أثمن التطبيقات التکنولوجية المتقدمة في العصر الثاني للآلة، أي تطبيق الذکاء الاصطناعي (artificial intelligence)في برامج داخل الجامعات ومراکز البحوث وفى التعليم العالي بصفة عامة وبشکل متواتر وسريع سرعة انتشار المفهومات والتطبيقات المرتبطة بالذکاء الاصطناعي ، ويعرف الذکاء الاصطناعي، بأنه القدرة والعمل على التنمية في نظم المعلومات التکنولوجية التي تعتمد على الکمبيوتر والأدوات الأخرى التي تکمل المهام التي يقوم بها والتي عادة ما تتطلب الذکاء الإنساني والتمکن من الوصول إلى استنتاجات منطقية (logical deduction)، ويهدف البحث رصد سياسات وبرامج وتطبيقات الذکاء الاصطناعي في التعليم العالي من منظور، باستخدام الآليات المنهجية في الوصف والتحليل والتفسير من خلال تناول: تاريخ وتطور الذکاء الاصطناعي بصورة وصفية مبسطة. المصطلح ومرادفاته واستخداماته في العلوم المعاصرة. المهارات الحياتية والمخاطر الناجمة. تطبيقات الذکاء الاصطناعي والسياسات والاستراتيجيات والمستقبليات، ومن أهم هذه التطبيقات، الأنظمة الخبيرة Expert System، تمييز الکلام speech recognition: هي برامج تستطيع تحويل الأصوات إلى کلمات (Text)، معالجة اللغات الطبيعية Natural language Processing، الربوتات Robotics: هي آلة کهروميکانيکية تتلقى الأوامر من حاسب تابع لها فيقوم بأعمال معينة.
