"Alkhader traditional building in Deir al-Balah is a unique architectural example that embodies the Christian and Islamic cultural heritage in one building. This building is the only traditional building still exist in the city._x000D__x000D_
It was restored in 2016-2017 with participation of several parties to implement and present the project in the most appropriate way to preserve it and its historical value, and reuse it as a children's library. The study used the case study as a tool to illustrate the project experience. Interviews were also conducted with some of the staff to explore their views on the impact of the project on the children and to explore the views of children a short questionnaire was used._x000D__x000D_
The paper presents the stages of the project from: mapping the building, identifying the damages, preparing the technical, architectural and construction studies, and the different stages of implementation. The study showed the challenges that faces the project and how they were overcome._x000D__x000D_
The study showed the possibility to take advantage of a building that looked small to be a library to serve the neighborhood children. It has become a library carrying the traditional spirit of the place and the authenticity of the present. _x000D__x000D_
The interviews showed the positive impact of the project on the children and residents of the neighborhood and its distinction in being a traditional building. The interviews showed the children's happiness and enjoyment inside the library._x000D__x000D_
