ملخص الدراسة:

This study attempted to measure the psychological distress among university students resulting from the loss of their homes during the war on Gaza in the summer of 2014, and its relationship with future anxiety. The study sample consisted of (79) male and female students whose homes were demolished, of which (53) houses were totally demolished, while (26) houses were partially demolished. The two researchers used two scales prepared by them, one to measure the distress caused by the loss of students’ homes, and the other to measure future anxiety after making sure of their psychometric properties. The results showed a high rate of sorrow among the students resulting from the loss of their homes, with a percentage weight of (70.05%). Results also showed that (73. 4%) of the students suffered from high rates of distress, and (72%) of them showed a high rate of future anxiety. The study proved that there was a significant positive correlation between feeling distressed and future anxiety. The study also showed that there were not statistically significant differences in stress attributed to the variable of gender, whereas it showed significant differences in future anxiety in favor of the male students. The findings also revealed statistically significant differences in distress and anxiety about the future in favor of the students whose homes were totally demolished, rather than partially. However, the study revealed that there were no differences in the stress and future anxiety attributed to the variable of accommodation facilities that the student’s families resorted to the after the demolition of their homes.
